Do you think love should have boundaries?
A friend of mine shared her ”awakening” with me. She said that God showed her that she would not even give her heart over to love her cat wholeheartedly in-case something happened to him, never mind her family and friends!
Just where exactly do we draw the line?
What if God took one of them away? Could she bear it? Can you? Where do you draw the line?
After hearing what she was experiencing I weighed up my own ”boundaries” … WOW! I have a lot!
It’s like … God can have some of this and some of that, but definitely not the people I feel I cannot live without. And my kitties, no way … ‘nah-ah!’
A part of this ”with-holding of love” is fear. We all know that! The other part is selfishness. That may be hard to accept, but it is true. There is a clear difference between guarding ones heart to not give our adoration to anything else more than we do to God and not loving others because you don’t want to get hurt.
I guess the biggest question posed to us both is:
“Do you trust God?”
Would you trust Him no matter what comes your way? Do we fully rely on God; are we fully expectant and totally surrendered to our God in every area?
Some people have a grace within them that is so powerful that it blows my mind! May we all receive this grace, a grace so brave that we can love without fear!
Or will you only trust His judgment – after your line has been drawn?
Proverbs 8:28 – ”And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
This is grace we as Christians are fortunate enough to have in and through Jesus Christ! A mercy so big, so forgiving, that God can and will change us while we are in difficult, even unbearable circumstances is the power of grace. It does not always mean the hardship will disappear, but we will be transformed into His likeness during the process of refinement none-the-less.”
You cannot draw a line with God! I cannot either … We cannot and should not stop loving those God blesses us with, just because we are afraid they might go-away.
Love is to valuable, it is to sacred, it is to powerful not give it.
”Lord have mercy on us, Your people. I ask that You would remove from us all the fear, the fear of small things and the fear of big things. Especially the fear of losing our loved ones. I pray that You would help us to embody the scripture that reads:
1 Corinthians 13:17 – ”Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”
Lord, help us to all trust You, to never give up on You, to never lose faith in You, to always put our hope in You and to endure through any and every hard circumstance because You are God and because You love us.
Thank You that You know what we can and cannot handle. Thank You Father that You will not give us more than we can bear. Lord, show us Your incredibly kind nature. Your nature that so fiercely loves us. Reveal Your heart to us. In Jesus Name.”
God is not a monster that is out there to hurt us or to pin us down when he is bored. He is ALMIGHTY, ALL POWERFUL and so very PERFECT! He is Love.
Love beyond measure. Love without boundaries. He is even love without lines!! He is so beautiful and so wonderful. HOLY! He loves us because He is God.
The only line God drew was the line of the Cross. One pole on which Christ Jesus hung for us, died for us, suffered for us. May the Lord help us to do likewise.
May grace and peace be with you and me. May His words be ever on our lips, and may His heart reside always in ours.
Romans 15:13 – ”May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”
